I've read the models that Imperial college have published. I read over their models and they seem pretty legit. They estimate the impact of these non-pharmaceutical measures to flatten the curve like social distancing, suspending school and universities, national lockdowns, etc. They basically say these things will help but despite all this stuff, we will exceed our max capacity of ICUs by the 2nd week of april. And they project that we will need to continue this until a vaccine is developed and even then we dont know how effective the vaccine will be.

As far as the economy goes, we're already seeing massive layoffs. Wall street is tanking. Our hardcore right wing federal government is handing out free money. And its only been about 5-6 days into the national social distancing recommendations. We theoretically have months to go.

At some point we'll have to make a decision - how long can we let the economy keep going in this tailspin until it completely crashes and burns beyond recovery versus how many people do we let die because we just cannot sustain.

I know we shouldn't panic, but this decision is inevitable. Thats what scares me and trust me, I am not frightened by anything until this...

Meh, I doubt we will keep it up. The altar of the almighty dollar is screaming for the deoxygenated blood of Corona-chan's pneumonia victims and we shall answer its call sooner or later
