I mean they have good careers, engineers, small business owners, etc. I've been telling them everything about Coronavirus broken down into layman's words from the very beginning. I've been giving them updates on any new information and arguing against false information. And just today they are absolutely clueless. They still think it's some Chinese government conspiracy to attack America. They are unable to just comprehend the situation as is. Now they've seen YouTube videos about how coronavirus is just a common cold and it's all a conspiracy. So I explain to them it's a new strand and that eventually after a few years it may become an illness like the flu, once there is herd immunity and vaccines. So then their response is, ok why is everyone panicking then if it's nothing. It's like bro, I just told you it takes at least a year or so until enough people have had it that herd immunity kicks in. And like I explained to you like 5 times already the biggest concern at the moment is overwhelming the hospital system.

I fear for the general publics response once they get tired of beign quarantined and start losing their jobs. These are educated people who are fucking clueless, even if I explain every little thing to them

Because I actually know what I'm talking about when it comes to medical diseases. If you wanna talk about C++ then I'll quiet down and listen to them.

The only conspiracy coming out of China was the efforts to cover it up initially. Other than that it's just a disease that wasn't properly contained at its early stages.

TodayI told them that CNN says that per cdc 40% of hospitalized patients are between 20 and 54. Their response is, wait I thought only older people die, so everything's been a lie? It's like fucking a, bro, noooo, you can be hospitalized and not die, and you won't be included in the fatality numbers. Young people can get pretty sick, just less common than older people getting sick.

I brought that up as a hypothetical example cuz I dunno shit about programming. I learned Java and some basic c++ in high school, lol. Took AP comp Sci.

I can't stand how some aren't taking it seriously. And Youtube at times doesn't help especially with all those conspiracy videos many which can get debunked.

People watch a short clip and believe it without doing research. I can't believe people in Florida are hanging out like nothing is happening and don't show signs of caring. They interviewed a girl and she was all like "Yeah I just turned 21 and we planned this trip to Florida so I'm enjoying it" while she's at some patio amongst others. Don't go home and spread it to your parents/grandparents and get them killed. Yeah...
