Flu even for a healthy person absolutely floors you for about 2 weeks. You feel like walking death. It's not a tummy ache and the sniffles.

I bet most of you have maybe had the flu 7 or 8 times max in your lives.

I had a really bad case of the flu two weeks ago, worst I've had in years

spent 2 days with a fever, and like 6 days coughing

I've had the flu once in my life, I was stuck in bed for five days. I could not function with that fever. Even getting up to use the bathroom was a mission.

I had the flu last year and I honestly thought I was going to die. I was sweating through bed comforters and could barely move. Shit was awful.

Basic rhinovirus or a stomach bug maybe. The flu lasts about a week or 2 in young healthy people. It can easily put senior citizens in intensive care.

Ive had the flu many every other year, but like 3 of those flus have been horrible. I remember one in middle school where I thought I would freeze to deathmy body kept shivering all night.

and then I got it again last year and it lasted at least 2 weeks and I kept coughing for at least 2 more. I wondered why it was so strong (was it the newer swine flu?)

I got it when swine flu was going around it was really bad for 2 days then I got over it.

The flu I caught earlier this year was a nasty one-- gave me acute bronchitis. It varies. We'd better hope that COVID-19 doesn't mutate into a yearly thing though.

Once your fever breaks, the flu is pretty manageable. Those 4ish days are pretty rough. If you feel like walking death for 2 solid weeks then there's something wrong with you.

I had strep and the flu together a few years ago during the polar vortex and I seriously thought I was going to have to get admitted into the hospital. I couldn't even drink a glass of water or eat for a few days.

The problem is that it can lead to other things like strep, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc... that makes it a lot worse

If your fever breaks you're usually in the clear and have a mild form of it.

Yeah, I got absolutely knocked on my ass when I got the flu. 2 solid weeks in bed.

COVID-19 is dangerous to old people and they don't want you to spread it to them

You may feel like shit for a week or 2, you're going to put them in the ICU and possibly kill them

Back when I was 6 years old, while recovering from the flu I had bad chicken tenders at the diner and got food poisoning on top of my flu. I missed like a week of school during finals and it was the one year I missed out on getting into the top class the following year >_>

It was the only time I've been hospitalized for an illness, and I just spent my time watching Air Bud and Homeward Bound

People are literally talking about house arrest. This isn't some "oh you're just being inconsiderate" this is "you're rolling the dice either way but how dare you think of yourself"

I wasn't hospitalized, but I was bedridden for days. It's not just a stuffy nose and a bad cough, it's rough body aches and total inability to function.

A lot of people I've known who think they have had a "flu" really probably just had a bad cold. If someone still feels well enough to go to work and do menial, basic tasks, it's more than likely not a flu.

Flu probably feels worse but Pneumonia is more likely with Coronavorus and thus is more often fatal.

Children seem oddly resistant to coronavirus compared to flu though

It's not just about protecting older people. It's about not overwhelming the health care system.

People who work in the hospitals are saying their beds already are filled, despite the official "low" numbers of cases.

I've only had it once in the last 20 years that I can remember at least.

Coincidentally my FB memories from 3 days ago reminded me of my last experience with the flu. It progressed into bronchitis and kept me sick for a solid 3 weeks. Worsened by the fact that my stupid ass job wouldn't give me time off.
