I work in the travel business, where I book school groups and senior adult groups, and meet them in various cities to see history, mostly in New York and DC. I have tens of thousands of dollars mixed up in dozens of flights this upcoming spring, and now all of my trips have cancelled. I'm fighting Southwest Airlines for more than 20k in one group's case, as the Broadway shows closing basically makes my theatre group want to stay home instead, and gives them every reason to cancel.

I have like 10+ individual flights as well, one that was this past Saturday, that I had to cancel. All of the airlines keep sending out emails saying "If you want to rebook, just call!" The hold times have averaged over 3 hours the last 2 times I've tried, and at this point why the hell would I rebook?

If only they had a refund policy, this wouldn't be overwhelming their system, and millions of people would be in a much better mood. Instead, they are telling those millions of people that they have to rebook their flights, flights that may not even happen in the near future, on trips that may never happen to begin with. With E3, March Madness, the NFL Draft, and all of the NBA season being postponed, I can see millions of people not have any reason to fly for the foreseeable future.

Whoever fought congress to allow airlines to have a non-refund policy must have paid a lot of politicians.

You'd think there's a market void for a "not a bag of assholes" airline to snuggle into, but Spirit tells us the opposite is true.

Almost like letting industries lobby for laws that fuck over the consumer is bad or something.
