I've had this idle clicker game going for a few months and I just pop on for enough active play to make big progress and get the feel good brain stuff. Low reward but low effort, too. I don't have the patience or time to get into real games anymore.

First games I thought of were Runescape and Cookie Clicker.

Runescape was fun for me when real life friends were also playing, I tried playing recently and the fun didn't last.

Cookie Clicker is fun for a bit, watching everything expand, then it hits a wall and stops being fun.

Reward me with currency that I can use to perform these endless, mundane tasks even easier!

Some people are addicted to that chemical release their brains give when they complete said tasks.

Runescape is great because a lot of the mundane AFK content you can do while watching movies and TV and shit. And then all the quests are unique, like classic 1990s point-and-click adventures, which gives it a leg up over most MMOs.

I also have a hard time with MMOs in general though, only ever got into a few of them.

Also hate survival games (DayZ, Rust, Subnautica) and battle royale.

Comfy games? I like them on occasion. Stardew Valley is a great example, sometimes it's nice to just play a calm relaxing game with no fail conditions.

It seems more like these are anxiety/dopamine related than actually fun and fulfilling.
