thinker - What we have going on right now is unregulated, extreme, fringe capitalism. The "free market" is supposed to be some sort of omnipresent, omnipotent, benevolent and infinitely wise actor that keeps everything going right.

But at the first sign of stress our supply chain is almost collapsed and supermarkets look more like venezuela than a 1st world country. The "best economy ever" suddenly becomes a bear market. interest rates plummet. Inflation may spiral out of control. The already rich get bailouts (wtf?).

Turns out our system is incredibly fragile, who would have thought?

it wasn't always like this. We've always been capitalist, and we should always be. But even as recently as the 90s we had regulations, no algorithmic trading we still had a fair amount of small and medium businesses. We would have handled this SO MUCH BETTER back then... there is a lesson to be learned here.
