The majority of people in the US cannot survive 2 months without getting paid, thats for sure.

Lets say businesses didnt continue to pay employees through the quarantine. Would most businesses, besides the huge corporations, be able to take the hit of two months no profit?

What if they did continue to pay employees? Could they survive that and no profit?

The way the US system is I don't think it could. So many people are living paycheck to paycheck and there is no real system to support them if they go without a job. Many will also be fired. Medical bill expenses also bankrupt many Americans. It would be a disaster.

And yet, certain people will still turn their noses up and say that those who lost their jobs/racked up medical bills "should have worked harder."

It won't survive. People will break in a month. What will probably happen is a lockdown in isolated areas here and there and curfews and such, which will amount to a hill of beans when it comes to actually stopping the virus and just serve to incapacitate massive numbers of employees and inconvenience everyone else.
