The very first time I heard about it, it was still being called Wuhan Flu on the news. And racial baggage aside, it was pretty easy to remember thanks to the loose rhyme.

But, if it's racist, Corona Virus/Covid-19 it is then.

It's really weird how some people really want to call this pandemic that because they would rather be racist than to do anything about it.

How the fuck can you be racist by naming a disease after the place of origin?

This is some peak political correctness SJW crap. You might as well drink the full Kool Aid by saying it was secretly developed by scientists in the USA.

Before people knew what it was and the disease was fairly unknown, it was being called stuff like Wuhan Flu. Once people found out it was a corona virus, people started calling it that because they didnt know what a corona virus was so they thought it was the name. The virus itself was named covid-19.
At this point calling it things like Wuhan flu is just weird because thats not what people are typically using here. So continuing to use it will make people question your motives.

This definitely warranted two posts in a row to say.

If people want to have a discussion about how this virus originated in China, have at it. But you're also not doing that by calling it the Wuhan Virus. Instead you're perpetuating stereotypes that this virus is carried by Chinese/Asian people. At this point, anybody is able to get this virus so its best to use a nomenclature that reflects that idea to the general masses. We still have stupid racist shit happening daily because of the association with COVID-19 and China and it doesn't help anybody.

Your right and if everyone had called it the Wuhan Virus it'd be whatever. However it pretty quickly became internationally known as Coronavirus or Covid 19. So the fact that there are still people insisting on calling it Wuhan Virus despite it having a much better known and more recognizable name does make you wonder what they are trying to accomplish.
