It's possible this is more in line with expansion packs like SSB rather than nickle-and-diming bullshit. My impression of AC is that it's a series that would do well with periodic "stuff packs."

Mario Kart doesn't, but I think it was released before the ESRB added that label. Super Smash Bros, Pokemon, and Fire Emblem do.

All this label means is that there's a link somewhere in the game that leads you to something you can buy. It could be a five dollar chair shaped like a turtle or it could be a ten dollar pack with fifty chairs shaped like a variety of animals.
