Lol pretty awesome, after getting the paraglider and an extra heart I decided on a whim to see how far I could make it to ganon's castle, since it was an objective and everything.

And I'm proud to say I actually made it pretty far. I actually entered the castle, and defeated some enemies, and got super high attack power weapons. I was on a roll. Even managed to avoid those damn guardian death beams. But then I was locked in a room where I had to defeat this centaur creature and he kicked my butt. Couldn't even get the chance to ride him.

Nice, if you feel comfortable going back the Castle will be a good source of strong weapons whenever it strikes your fancy.

Tbh, at this point you probably don't need any tips. Better to just go with whatever you want to do.

But...

I would get all the runes upgraded as fast as you can whenever you get the opportunity (which will happen just by playing the story).

And if you have the DLC, I'd recommend you find the Korok Mask fairly early in the game. You don't need to rush to it right now, but if you don't come across it I would consider looking up where it is.

I just met the hilarious inventor scientist who reverse aged herself. Now I'm going back to Impa. Got bombs 2.0 so that was fun. Funny how bombs are an endless supply in this game, that was nice of the developers. Could you imagine if bombs also had limited numbers like everything else in this game... actually I don't think I would have minded. But still it's nice of them to lift that burden.

Anyway does Nintendo do like complete editions? I'm new to the Switch and post-Wii Nintendo era in general, so really don't know how they're handling things like DLC compared to other companies.

Should I shell out the extra 20 or so bucks for said DLC? I'll admit the idea of a mask that shows me where the korok seeds are would definitely be helpful. Hell a map with all the treasure locations a la Assassin's Creed would be even nicer, sometimes I just want to mindlessly collect stuff in between story objectives, it's cathartic.

As much as I loved the game, I found the DLC to be largely pointless.

Just curious does anyone have a convenient way to get all apples from a tree without destroying the tree? I feel like there must be a quickest method to get them. I've tried blowing a korok leaf on them, but it doesn't really work for the high up ones. I've tried hitting them with a hammer. I don't want to cut them down with an axe which is what I've been doing but sometimes I don't have an axe.

I just blow up trees with bombs. It's the easiest, fastest, and most resource conservative way.

Theres a Gerudo in the Death Mountain town that will buy gemstones. The type she decides to buy is random so revisit periodically to unload them for a good source of cash.

Also, I got a fire rod and ice rod. I don't want to use them up though because I lucked into them by accident and can't find the enemy that dropped them again, it was while exploring (I really should start stamping and marking more often)

Fire rod is a convenient fire starter. Ice rod is great for enemies. If I freeze an enemy and then strike I think it one-shots them.

You can also freeze em and use a korok leaf to blow them off cliffs. Also a fire/ice weapon can be used as a substitute for one piece of cold/heat protection armor.

As for the DLC, it is 100% worth 20 bucks imo. Content wise I think it adds about 10 hours to the main story (I think ~16 shrines), a new method of traversal (which I can spoil/you might already be aware of), the trials (the details of which I will also not spoil) that will be at least a few hours of extra content, and a handful of really useful items (the Korok mask being one of them) and some upgrades to your abilities. Additionally, you'll unlock master mode which is a mode with more difficult enemies (red enemies become blue, blue become black, etc. and the hardest enemies become harder) and a few little extras are strewn about the map. Compared to the $60/$50 price tag it does not have as much content as the base.

Also (and this is kinda shitty on Nintendo's part), having the DLC will allow you to display everywhere you've walked on the map for the last 100 hours. So if you're looking for new shrines and stuff it's extremely easy to tell where you have/have not been.

However, feel free to play like 20-30 more hours before you decide on whether you want the DLC or not. The main "story" part of the DLC takes place pretty late game, and the only a handful of bonuses are really helpful right away (the Korok mask being one of them). And it will probably take you that long before you start to run out of brand new areas and need to explore missed pockets of old ones.

If you are getting to what feels like the ending of the base game and you're kinda tired of it, the DLC can be skipped pretty safely. But if you're close to the end and you're down for a little more story/game, I'd go ahead and get it.
