Family pets have been put down in the past, but this time it was my cat it's the first time I've had to be the one to make the decision. I'm having a harder time dealing with it than I thought I would.

Sucks when you have to make that choice. In my case I can't help but think if more could have been done when my cat was put to sleep due to getting a mouth ulcer and it been too far gone. I guess I'll never know the answer to that.

My cat had diabetes tried 4 different insulins and none of them had any effect. He started having trouble walking by the time we were trying the 4th. Been a month since figured he had another two weeks or month before he was gone with the rate he was losing the ability to walk, but earlier he wasn't able to poop, like his muscles just stopped working and weren't able to push it out and he was meowing in pain. Vet said there was a bunch of blockage and might even be a tumor.

I wasn't expecting it to be so sudden, I just know that kind of blockage can cause a lot of pain and there wasn't any getting better for him.

I still miss my cat that we lost in 2011. I'm sorry for your loss.
