Are you more likely to get the same thing/type of food at food establishments, or more likely to get very different items?

I realize that I like to get the same thing at most places. Only a few restaurants do I get very different items. But the more I go to certain places, I tend to start getting the same thing...

I typically get the same thing at specific places because I generally choose where I go based on what I want. If I go to Lucille's BBQ I get the beef ribs. But that's because I really only go to Lucille's if I want BBQ beef ribs. Same with most other restaurants. Even fast food places. If I go to Jack in the Box, it's almost always because I want their ultimate bacon cheeseburger.

Variety. For the most part I will eat anything so one of my favorite things is to.have the server surprise me with an appetizer

If I see something on the menu that Ive never tried before then Ill probably go for that

If its a new place then I usually pick whatever seems like their most popular or signature item

I couldnt do that. While Im not really a picky eater, they are certain things I dont like. Not to mention, I would get a little scared for my wallet depending on what they picked...

Depends on the restaurant.

If I go to McDonalds, I almost always get the McChicken (because it's cheap and pretty good), nuggets (easy to eat while driving), or Fillet O' Fish (if it's on sale).

On the other hand, there's a local Mexican place I used to eat at nearly every weekday for lunch and I tried almost every single item on the menu except the menudo.

Same thing every time. Been a long time since i switched anything up but i also very rarely eat out so it doesnt really get old to me.

I like to get things I haven't tried before from that place for the most part. I go to certain places often so get excited when they get a new menu. The only exception to this is fast food places as most the time I can't be bothered to read the menu much and other times I'm drunk.
