Is Banana Blitz a good place to start?

I wasn't particularly fond of Blitz. 2 was the best IMO

I feel like Banana Blitz isn't too great; the originals Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 on the Gamecube are the best & where the series really flourished if you ask me. Or maybe go for the Xbox version of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, since that's basically both of them + some extra content; I think the Xbox version of that is good, I know the PS2 one has some pretty poor control issues.

1+2 on the Cube are best. The one on the DS was pretty good too.

Blitz is a proper 3rd Monkey ball game, but because it was designed for the wii remote the level design is very basic and ultimately super easy when they brought it to HD with regular controls.

Then maybe that arcade game where you have a ball as the controller

2 on Gamecube is by far the best. It's a big improvement over 1. 1 has pretty basic level designs with a high difficulty mostly due to all the late stages focusing on having a very light touch on super narrow paths; they all kind of feel the same. Meanwhile 2 keeps the amped up difficulty, but the stage design is incredibly creative. The later games keep semi-creative designs with a much lower difficulty. Banana Blitz is fine, but I can't really recommend it. The mini games on it felt like a decent Wii technology demo, but I don't think that would translate as well now, or on Switch at all. Main suggestion is to play 2 on Gamecube.
