https://work.chron.com/average-starting-salary-law-school-students-7716.html
For all private-sector law firms, the median starting salary in 2016 was $68,375 according to an annual survey from US News & World Report. These salaries ranged from a high of $180,000 to a low of $45,000. The National Jurist reports that the median salary for first-year associates at law firms with less than 50 employees was $90,000 and for firms with over 75 lawyers, starting salaries ranged from $126,500 to $168,250. Yea, but if they can get a job they'll make back the entire cost of their education in a couple of years at most, and then go on to make way more. It's still a solid investment for a law degree. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz. The Three Beats Of War, Peace And Revolution Continue On Forever." - Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz ... https://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=General_Surgeon/SalaryThat is assuming you passed 3 separate board exams and actually match into a good residency program then graduate from residency passing the ABIM exam. Do you want to take this risk so you can exam people's rectum and get spat on by alcoholics in the ED? I also want to add on that the average resident salary in the US is 57,400, which is barely enough to cover student loans and living expenses. So stop posting this 6 figure crap because we won't make that much until we hit 30-35 years of age, assuming we don't pursue fellowship. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

There was a topic on SomethingAwful a number of years ago where people were talking about law student prospects. To summarize it: don't go to law school.
They talked about how unless you went to a T4 (I think it's called that?) school or graduate top of your class, you can't find a job in law. There were a bunch of examples of how hard it is to get employed in law. Here's the link, if you're interested: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3301274 --- Always delivers. ... Copied to Clipboard!

That is assuming you passed 3 separate board exams and actually match into a good residency program then graduate from residency passing the ABIM exam. Making $300,000/yr at 35 sounds pretty sweet. Even general practitioners averages at around $160K. Given that you're probably not even graduating a med school program until your late 20s, that still sounds like an incredible investment and puts you way ahead of the curve compared to nearly everyone else 5-10 years into their careers. You'll be making that kind of money for roughly 30 years assuming retirement at 65, meaning you're raking in literally millions of dollars more than people who didn't spend that extra time and money pursuing that career path. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz.
