I dunno. All 3 of those things take the same skill set. I can't figure it out either.

On a serious note. It's easy and a sign of status for most people. It's just fun to others. I personally really enjoy disc golfing and the community surrounding it. They feel like my people. Golfers probably have the same thing, a mutual vibe.

I don't care about professional golf at all but it's a fun game to actually play. Plus, it's totally acceptable to drink while you play.

It's just a fun time out with your buddies, getting drunk, whackin' balls and rippin' around in a golf cart.

Its a great networking sport because you can drink and people with a wide range of skill levels and age gaps can play together.

I started playing when I was 30. Even if you suck, as long as you approach it with the right attitude it's still a lot of fun.

I got my set from a friend who sold them to me dirt cheap. But I think there's a pretty big price range when it comes to golf clubs.

If you're new to it, always try to get a cheap, used set. It's not gonna make much of a difference anyways. Learning how to swing a club properly is far more important that the actual club itself.

Its just an excuse for old rich people to get together and drink while also feel like they're being active since Golf isn't exactly a sport that takes a lot of energy. Hit the ball, drive the cart to the next one, drink a beer. Younger people who do it tend to be on the richer side and like being part of the resorts or clubs...or they go to a driving range which again is just an excuse to hit balls an drink beer with little effort.
