Let's say for the sake of the hypothetical, Voyager's plan goes tits up.

Instead of going after the Admiral, the Borg go after Voyager, Voyager manages to escape but not before Captain Janeway and Vorik are assimilated into the collective.

They do destroy the transwarp conduit but they don't go back to the alpha quadrant. They are forced to Leave early back into the Delta Quadrant to escape being destroyed by the Borg Sphere. Now only a few years closer to Earth

What happens now? Who takes over as Captain?

Admiral Janeway? She's the highest ranking officer and has future knowledge of what's ahead but no one really knows her and her plan fucked up. Costing them the captain

Does Chakotay take over with Tuvok as first officer? Admiral Janeway as an advisor like Neelix?
Or Chakotay as Captain with Admiral Janeway as first officer?

Tuvok will be known to be growing insane so does Harry Kim become first officer with Chakotay becoming Captain?

How would Seven of Nine react?

I think it's a cool hypothetical

Harry Kim would never become first officer. Admiral Janeway would forbid it.

If she's not in charge, how much does her opinion mean?

How would Admiral Janeway still exist? If her present time counterpart is dead?

I mean we already know it works on Multiverse theory because

  1. TNG Parallels.
  2. There's no reason for Admiral Janeway to go back in time in the new future she created by going back in time. Therefore she doesn't go back in time. So it's a paradox. The sheer fact she succeeds in her mission means that she has to be from an alternate timeline. The Borg Queen is just an idiot.
