I liked it. Had no idea it was an xmen show, and with more budget/seasons they could have really fleshed it out.

I liked the characters, and liked seeing the xmen universe without the same familiar faces we see every time. Would it have been nice to see the usual suspects eventually? Sure. But I liked seeing all new characters I'd never seen before like marcos and lorna, the emma frost triplets, and of course the struckers. Then there's Blink who I was glad to see in a show and Thunderbird is my standout for dude who's super hot like just look at him

I liked it for what it was. Sure, it didn't have the "heavy hitters" from the franchise, but there were still some cool characters. Some good storylines, but other times it felt like it was just spinning its wheels.

Is it one of those shows that try to hide the fact that they cant have the characters people wanna see by making references to those characters every 5 minutes?

I don't think so, but it's been a couple years. They didn't shy away from mentioning them, but I don't think it was constantly. Thunderbird mentioned a few times that the X-Men had gave him the resistance mission or whatever and it was implied pretty heavily that Polaris was still Magneto's daughter. There was also mention of the Hellfire Club with the twins' real grandparents.

But it becomes harder to swallow when literally every A list character in the universe is gone.
The world did fall into a super racist anti-mutant regime, so you could argue that some of the A-listers just went into hiding.

I watched the first season but I'm a dc fanboy and it decided to have the same time slot as thr flash iirc correctly. Even my marvel fanboy of a stepfather said that was a stupid ass decision.

They're not really A-listers if they went into hiding...

Legion is also a character from X-Men comics. He is a super powerful mutant that is the son of Professor X. I only watched the first season of Legion though.

Not positive but iirc the show implied they had been killed off which would make sense theyd be the first to be hunted since they where more renowned

Actually I thought the second season was ever so slightly weaker with the whole polaris and strucker dude being "bad guys" now, it was kinda ridiculous at times, but still good and there was just potential to be something more with this show. It came out of nowhere and then just as quickly faded away.

This is 100% my take also. I'm a huge X-Men fan, I wore a Gambit tee shirt to work today. It had some elements that I enjoyed but it fell short as the season went on.

Days of Future Past and X2 were the definitive non-animated X-Men experiences for me

The 2nd season saw a drop in quality from the first, but the series was leaps and bounds better than Legion.

Not a big marvel nerd so this is just what i heard but one of the major characters was someone literally killed off in their first or first few apperances. I think the guy with the power that allowed him to track people.

All of the characters would be unknown to the general public, but they had some that I think are fairly prominent in the actual comics. The Stepford Cuckoos showed up near the end of the first season and Polaris is a main character.

To be fair, The MCU has made more of even lesser characters. The Gifted had some big names if you were an X-Men fan. Blink and Thunderbird were in Days of Future Past. Blink was also in cartoons and video games. Thunderbird was in one of the X-Mens very first cartoon appearances. Polaris was Magnetos daughter and she had appeared in several cartoons dating back to the 90s animated series where she was Icemans girlfriend. She had a pretty significant role in Wolverine and the X-Men, as did the Stepford Cuckoos. Its not like the show dug the bottom of the barrel for characters.

Its more of a sign of what Marvel has done to the X-Men universe. Theyve destroyed the franchise to the point where people think the whole series is Wolverine and Jean Grey.

The very fact that it had lesser characters is why I liked the show so much. MCU proves that it's actually better to take less established characters than the well known "Spiderman!" types and make something of that character.

And alternatively, it's why DC sucks so much when it goes straight off into the heavy hitters, Batman and Superman, and disappoints fans. The expectation is too high.

I honestly don't get how some fans simply can't understand that point. It's always more fun to see the supporting players when the main character has been so idealized to the point of being godlike, eg watching a story of the batfamily like nightwing and batgirl and robin where Batman is out of town, which opens up a lot more dynamic relationships and possibilities.

I really enjoy Legion a lot but fuck, it's hard to watch. I don't know if it's just me and my busted ass attention span but I can barely get through an episode before needing a break. I'm the same way with Mr. Robot and Twin Peaks. When people talk about bingeing those shows it makes my head spin.

I love the characters and visuals and everything about it so it sucks. I started season 3 and was burned out after two episodes.

Batman is always gonna sell. But just look to shazam as he kinda proves your point. Wonderwoman and aquaman to a degree as wonder woman while well known hasnt been superman/batman level of popularity in awhile and aquaman while well known has been treated like a joke to the point they even incorporated it into his own comics. And those are DCs biggest hits so far in the DCEU

I'll never understand the hate for Aquaman and will never acknowledge it. The Superman of the sea who can talk to/control all Ocean wildlife? How does one get "joke character" out of a poseidon level power like that.

And I actually watched Superfriends as a kid. Never formed that negative opinion about Aquaman.

There was actually a scene in a comic where at a resturant aquaman orders fish and chips and dude starts giving him shit for it saying he cant eat fish cause he talks to fish. Aquaman explains fish dont have the intellect for conversation and he actually mind controls the.

So yeah the canon is he mind controls sea life.

But yeah im the same ive always thought aquaman was cool.
