Dear Ayn Rand worshipers. I honestly want to hear your response to this question. How would the 'private' sector handle and resolve these types of global health crises ?

Pandemics would prolly be handled by a medical "union" or organization, lead by people genuinely interested and trade for basic supplies to settlements or whatev.

At least from the left-wing side of it.

Probably insurance providers paying people who test positive to quarantine. Those same providers would presumably have the most to lose if it got out of control.

Its hard to say without knowing what free market healthcare would actually look like.

We already know what free market insurance looks like. Dropping coverage whenever it's no longer profitable, and filing for bankruptcy and executives paying themselves golden parachutes.

In an ideal world, the exact same way we do today, with everyone sharing information and collaborating on ways to help reduce infection and cure/vaccinate the disease.

But like, that probably won't happen tbh.

Still not an entirely free market, but something closer to it is dental care. People sometimes buy dental insurance, it can be a good idea, but it's not mandatory nor is it completely tied up with employment. You can also just pay out of pocket and unlike other healthcare, the costs are sensible.
ROFL, out-of-pocket dental care is NOT fucking sensible. Why do you think regular Americans are always clamoring for dental care to be included in their employers' health coverage?

They'd charge astronomical prices for treatment, saying "if you didn't want to die, you should have gotten a better job, or have avoided getting sick", forgetting that somebody's gotta scrub their toilets.

I don't even want to image the price of a titanium dental implant if insurance actually covered it.

Because people see benefits like that as "free". If the choice was dental insurance, or a raise of equivalent value, how many do you think would pick the insurance?
As-is, pick the insurance. It's untaxed income.

A raise of equivalent value would be $4000+/year for a family with 2 children. No company is going to give such a raise. THey're going to offer an insurance plan that covers it for much than $4000+/year.

Dental / Orthodontic costs aren't just about a simple exam and cleaning every 6 months.
