I'm watching replays from the Mega Man 11 leaderboards and it's ridiculous, like I've been playing it for almost two weeks and still half the time it takes me 5 seconds to switch weapons or use a gear because I keep forgetting which button does what and then I still activate the wrong damn thing.
Maybe I'm just getting too old for this shit. :( --- Dolphins are people too! https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/1404-cetacea-cove ... Copied to Clipboard!

I used to speed run back in 2007, even had one run get accepted on speed demos archive, but runs have gotten so much better now than they used to be. They're so well optimized now, you have to be a really good gamer to have a shot at any world records. I personally am not hardcore enough to do that anymore lol.

I've done some great speedruns, and although a lot of factors contribute to being a good speedrunner, IMHO, it's mostly about memory. You know, remembering how to do a puzzle, or where an item is. The more times you speedrun a game, the stronger your memory becomes.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy how much people must play/practice to get as good as they are. About a month after Banjo-Kazooie came out on XBLA my run was good for 9th place. They cheat mostlyUm no, TAS are videos showing either very interesting or entertaining things or are the theoretical best possible time. Regular speedruns are completely separate, but routers might look to TAS for ideas on different routes. And anyone that tries to pass off a TAS as a regular speedrun generally gets banned from that community for cheating but TAS are not themselves cheating, because they are separate things. --- From the depths, the thing they called Worm King did rise. Minimizing latency also helps big time no matter what anyone says, even when it's "unnoticeable", it'll fuck you over in the tiniest little ways.
I Like Toast posted... They cheat mostly TASes are literally just scripted runs through a game, they're moreso programmed than they are played. They get down to even tiny details like figuring out how the game's RNG works, so certain actions are only done on very particular frames to get perfect outcomes. So like, in JRPGs, they can avoid as many random battles as possible, and always get critical hits when they do have to fight. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
