Yeah but there's still enough variation in it that I shouldn't encounter like a dozen different named NPCs that look like fucking Gladys from Groundbreaker >_>

Also holy shit getting to Byzantium made me realize how little dialogue variation there is in this game. You can talk to like 4 unnamed NPCs in a row (of the same type) and they'll all say the same thing.

All of these open world games need significantly more hair options, it would go a long way. Have like 100 different hair variations and NPCs will all look a lot more different

I liked the game a lot on release because it scratched an itch that hadn't been scratched in a very long time.

Looking back, it definitely had its fair share of flaws. I don't know if that's due to rushed schedule, small development team, lower budget, or all of those factors and then some. Could have been more than it was though.

hair moves too much, if too many NPCs have woman hair that has physics, it hurts performance

Putting five hairs in the same LoD/Culling/Optimization pass is a lot easier to do than 5000 hairs in real time across the city you're in.

You're right about the hair thing. That and other accessories can really mask limitations in character design.

Astral Chain is an example of that. Apart from about eight characters that have very distinct designs, EVERY other human character in the game (including the player character) is based off the same male or female model.

While it's more noticeable with civilian NPCs, it's masked pretty well with the other police officers.

There basically isn't any hair physics in this game anyways >_>

Most of the female characters have some short or tight hair style, but funny enough they actually give an in-universe reason for that early in the game.
