This coronavirus stuff has disrupted the world economy and the supply chain.

"hey! let's buy some N95 masks!".... sure, let's tell our Chinese plant to make some more. OOPS!
"Man, we need to make some new cars to meet demand"... wait, their parts are built in china. OOPS!
"Man, the iPhone is selling so well, let's order some more".... well well, they have chinese parts too! OOPS!

It's almost like having the world's eggs in one basket is stupid and risky. Not to mention it empowers a rogue totalitarian state. Why can't other countries get a little bit of the supply chain action?

Imagine some things get manufactured in cheap countries elsewhere. Cambodia? Mauritius? Albania? Argentina? Brazil? There is no limit!

EU companies would probably be protecting their best interests by at least producing some stuff in the EU. US companies don't really care, nor does the GOP ("america first" my butt, they're as anti-america as it gets) but they could probably save a buck or two by taking advantage of NAFTA and/or USMCA and producing some stuff in Mexico, it'd simplify logistics and the proximity could save some money.

Nobody has to "walk away from China", they just need to diversify a little (or a lot). Not only does it reduce risk, it also helps stabilize the world from a geopolitical perspective.

Do you agree?

Literally no other country on Earth can manufacture things like China. One, because of the sheer amount of workforce, and two, because of the slave like practices they have.

I was gonna say we should ensure workers have paid sick leave and aren't left with massive bills for getting tested.

Mexico could be an alternative to China, and it would be a mutually beneficial relationship with the US. In fact, we make a lot of computer and car parts over here.
But you know, Trump has a massive hate boner for us...

Yes, it's quite unfortunate. He'd rather support one of the US's top geopolitical enemies (China) instead of using you guys for manufacturing, taking advantage of the trade treaty he forced himself (USMCA)

This is why that began, yes.

But China isn't the king of cheap anymore, there's the Cambodias, Mauritius, Malaysias of the world, etc now. And then some not-that-cheat countries like Mexico may be just as viable considering the proximity to the US, western values and lesser language barrier.

LMAO no.

The idea is to not empower a single country like that anymore. None.

India is just as likely to have stuff like the coronavirus (you think the bat soup is bad? Wait until you learn what gets dumped in India's sacred river and how people are cremated and their public defecation problem), and they'd quickly change their tune and try to bully the planet like China did once they get powerful enough.

Sure, give them SOME of the industries china dominates right now. But then give some to other countries scattered around the world too.
