its basically a time travel romance show about a woman who goes from post war england in WWII to 18th century England.

so she goes back about 200 years or so

we just started but its basically lady crack in tv form, but much higher quality than anything on lifetime tv.

normally they make the husband detestable so cheating on him with the new love interest is justified but this one is different. She does love her husband (though he is a bit dry) and then starts falling in love with this younger man back in 18th century when shes trapped there.

they already eluded to nightshade being used to help the local village girls have an abortion, so she will obviously get pregnant by this guy at some point in the storyline.

there's a lot of romance tropes used in the first eps but at the same time i dont hate it.

if you have a SO you like to watch these shows with I suggest giving it a try.

Will post more updates as we watch.

It's not a bad show. Season 1 though gets really fucking dark towards the end.

not that far. we only got through 2 eps.

not piratey at all. if you want pirates i HIGHLY suggest Black Sails; fantastic pirate show.

this is more about scottish rebels fighting the redcoats.

yeah im wondering if there is some sort of connection with ancestry and memory?

or my other theory is that shes actually from that ancient timeline, came through to modern time and lost her memory.

My wife and I watch Outlander. Fantastic show that dips in quality during the 3rd season but picks back up after that. The show does a great job of changing up things each season to keep it from becoming dull.

I'm in the small minority of straight and single 20-something year old dudes that are into the show. I love Outlander on many levels, especially as a history student (with a focus on 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries) and for someone who has a soft spot for romance. It's really a solid show in general, has something for everyone.

starting ep 3

one thing this show does not need is a theme song/intro

not every show needs one of these

no banging yet

they are now on the road collecting money for the rebellion

shes starting to befriend them and they are starting to trust her

I like some of the historical detail they throw into the episodes, adds some intellect to the story.

A big thing in the show is her knowing major historical events/disasters and trying to keep the people she cares about safe while not changing the course of history too much.

Lol yeah. There's one episode where they literally spend the entirety of it banging. Hardly anything else happens.

Not to spoil too much but some of season 2 takes place in Paris. The theme song is remixed with a French baroque style.

ok, so we finished the wedding ep last night-ep 7 i think

there was some sex but not a bunch, tbh.

his first awkward sex at the beginning of the ep (he was still a virgin!)
the rest of the ep was retelling the wedding
some more sex at the end where they start connecting and get rid of the awkwardness

i cant imagine many scots were getting bj's back then

Yeah there are a few times when he's a little too heroic with his timing. The show loves to paint Jamie as the perfect man. It doesn't get too terribly silly. That scene at the tower is one of the worst examples of that.
