Idiot bosses that threaten to fire sick workers will provide the opportunity for extinction

There really should be a law to require at least one week of sick pay for all jobs, even part time. Too often do I go out shopping and see cashier's coughing and sniffling and looking like death because they can't afford to stay home and not only get better but prevent their illness from spreading.

I honestly don't even see how US gonna be able to shut down cities for a couple weeks like other countries have done. So many people are a missed pay check away from being homeless or if they get sick. Those bills for a several week hospital stay could totally screw them over.

Hopefully the politicians see this obvious issue coming and fix it before it too late.

I worked in restaurants and definitly called into work when i was sick.

You're handling food people are gonna ingest. Any owner that isnt a complete dipshit should want a sick employee to stay home before they infect most of the staff. If they don't you should be looking for a new job asap

Yeah my job is okay with it, but only to an extent. They give us 8 credits for a full calendar year and that's it. You go past that and you're fired. So even if you're deathly sick for a week you still lose you job.

Terrible employers then. Last thing you want in food service is a sick employee coming in. Unless they have good reason to think you're not being honest

Sweet 2009, back when the media and the WHO weren't withholding information of a global pandemic, and when we had an actual leader as president. Can we go back to those times?

As a side note, I don't actually remember the swine flu being that horrible. We live in a populated place, so it's not like we dodged the bullet at all. I do remember going through the worst case of the flu ever in early Jan 2009, but that was before the swine flu gained widespread attention. Was I an unreported victim of the flu and we just got it really early?

Even assuming the management is fine with you calling out sick, it's often that people can't afford to miss a day of work like that.

I've had coworkers come to work sick because they were afraid of losing the job.

Even going to the hospital is spreading it there, so hopefully Super Pence and his team come up with a nonlethal vaccine.

It's still annoying if you are able to work from home as well. You're still stressed out working all day, possibly hindered by your sickness, yet your boss acts like you're taking a day off since you're not physically in the office and it can reflect on your reviews.
