As a lifelong American, I'll tell you that corn syrup certainly seems sneakier. Things that use plain old sugar will fill me up, but corn syrup just kinda loads those calories in, and you don't notice.

HFCS (High-Fructose Corn Syrup) has replaced most sugar in processed baked goods / cookies.
Just go to the cookie aisle of your local super market and check most of the brand names. I refuse to buy those cookies and baked goods that use HFCS. It seems that only the store made brand of cookies use real sugar now. --- Are you a MexiCAN or a MexiCAN'T - Johnny Depp 'Once Upon A Time in Mexico' ... Copied to Clipboard!

HFCS (High-Fructose Corn Syrup) has replaced most sugar in processed baked goods / cookies. It doesn't really matter. The most commonly used HFCS is almost identical to sugar, so both are bad in large amounts. While there are more dangerous versions of HFCS, which has even more fructose, is rarely if ever used. --- The Official Odin of the Shin Megami Tensei IV board. I haven't found it the ingredient listed yet but gonna look at pop tarts and some more typical junk food sweets to see if it really is replacing sugar.
