Possessions are weird.

I've moved house something around a billion times in my life, so I'm regularly reminded of every single meagre thing I own. I binned off a load of stuff during my last move that was probably worth a fortune on eBay, but I still have some personal items that I've been carting about for half my life. Genuinely half my life, fourteen years and counting.

Item #1: Gordon The Gorilla. (Pictured) My best mate and confidante. As adorable and judgemental as the day I spent all my holiday money on him. (He's had two seperate nose jobs.)

Item #2. A tennis racket I bought when I was about thirteen. Actually, it's not even the one I bought. The very first time I ever used it, there was another kid at the park who had exactly the same one and we got them mixed up. I don't even remember the last time I took it out of the case, but it remains a permanent fixture in my life.

Item #3. An electric guitar I got for Christmas when I was thirteen. I wanted a guitar so bad then. I was convinced my Mum hadn't bought me on. Every one of my mates was getting a guitar for Christmas and I was devastated that I was going to be left out. I panicked for ages up until Christmas Day and it turned out the damn thing had been in a box outside my bedroom door for weeks and I was stubbing my toe on it every goddamn day.

Item #4. A 'Bokken'. A rosewood Samurai sword. Possibly my favourite possession. (Sorry, Gord.) Many years ago - it was a dark and stormy night -'a bolt of lightning struck a tree and tore the bark asunder. Inside the trunk, I found the sword and as I grasped it I heard the voice of an ancient Samurai warrior echoing throu- nah, I'm just kidding, I bought it for fifteen quid in Wales.

That's pretty much everything I have worth mentioning. I guess you could say you can tell a lot about someone from their possessions, but I'm not sure that's true.

I mean, yeah sure I'm a grown man who still loves his teddy bear, but I don't play tennis - I never learned more than a couple things on the guitar and I'm not even a Samurai.

Yet...
