MGSV:PP was obviously incomplete

I agree with this. I'm not saying it was bad, but I feel that with the beef between Konami ad Kojima, they just rush this so they can end their union.

MGS 5 is the perfection of the Peace Walker formula, but is very difficult to count as a MGS continuation at all in my eyes. Its really more like a game that fills in the last remaining story gap with a radically different game style to match the theme at hand. If we're being honest, MGS 5 should really be titled Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker 2.

MGS 4 is the perfection of the MGS formula.

It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. I actually thought the gameplay was its weakest asset, if you just take the skin breathing in stride and make appropriate allowances for the story obviously being cut short by Konami firing Kojima.

The gameplay had so much potential but got positively murdered by persistent stats and inventories. Want to fight the tank? Too bad, you have to fulton it to add it to your inventory. Want to blow up that guy with a rocket launcher? Too bad, that'll decrease your heroism.

Also, this:

No it isn't. From a gameplay perspective it's near perfect. A point A to point B infiltration, with multiple pathways to take.

The battlefield AI was a cool idea that I would have loved to see taken further. The little gameplay mechanics that were added could have been very useful had the "hot" areas required combat.

i've never got into MGS that much to rank them but 2 and 4 were my favs. 2 is more because of nostalgia since i played it when i was a young teen. never played 5 wouldn't doubt it's the best

people cite the light story in 5 as a downside but if you had the choice between that and the absolute garbage plot that 4 had compounded by how long and asinine the cutscenes were, the choice is very clear

But there just wasn't a good amount of it.

Once you have hit Act 3 you've basically only got boss fights, fan service and cutscenes left as highlights.

I used to complain about mgsv lack of cutscenes but then I replayed mgs 2 3 and 4.

The gameplay being focus over Kojimas long winded writing is very much appreciated. I just wish it could have been fully utilized

I think at that point I was over it and just rushed through it to see the ending.

I was really disappointed by 4. Which I guess left me to be less disappointed by 5.

Nothing really comes close to the original trilogy to me. I love the first three games and Rising. The rest? Meh.

For me personally, 5 needed

> more and unique bosses (mist things dont count for me)
> a proper resolution/final act
> more complex indoor areas (mansion is the closest thing)

S3 was actually my least favorite Solid. The control was the absolute pits, especially if you wanted to do the cooler CQC moves, but also if you just wanted to crawl into a wall or lock on with L1.

Then there's the matter of Snake being a total superhero without a cape (which, ironically, PW was a lot more guilty of but it was more acceptable when we weren't supposed to believe he was a rookie), cringy Baby Ocelot and the way that BB doesn't even seem to care at all about the major events of the story. Plus, I never liked Jimmy B so since it's pretty much 007 the game... Yeah.

Don' t get me wrong--I love every major MG game, including S3. It' s just that S3 had the most problems.

Thinking about it, MGS1, 2, 3, PW, and V are great.

4 I thought was decent. But for some reason I didn't really understand the stealth mechanics and ended up going Rambo in most situations. I kinda didn't like how easy it was to do that, but I appreciate their catering to different play styles.

Yeah Ground Zeroes was awesome I replayed it so many times and I like V but the open world was a little too much, not enough indoor locations. Too many broken buildings and makeshift camps.
