I dont give a shit about business presentations

My literature teacher is a [bleep] and I don't want an English dual degree anymore

My statistics class is mushbrain-tier which is paradoxically hurting me because all the class time is just telling us equations to use and doing practical hw, but the practical stuff was only 30% of the midterm while the rest was fucking theory out of nowhere

It's like some straw broke the camel's back while I wasn't looking.
Of course I've also cut out most sugar and calories from my diet since I'm trying to make a lifestyle change and lose weight, though it's been at least a week since I've started that.

I dunno. I wish I was taking less than six classes (the max). I was really concerned about maxing the value I got out of my time here but now I'm feeling really apathetic. Like my ambition has folded.

I have to tell a one-two minute story tomorrow to the class from my life that uses 'descriptive language' to evoke emotion. I haven't started. I don't care enough. It's only 10 points but I'm on the edge of A- so I can't just blow it off. It's dumb fucking busywork though.

I don't feel like I can have fun anymore. I never feel comfortable playing videogames because some big project is always on the horizon. I spend time doing schoolwork, putting off work by stressing or reading CE and shit, and laying in bed with the covers drawn over my head.

I don't have anyone irl to talk to because my 'friend' group has devolved into a bunch of mutual alcoholics who all have abusive homes or mental illnesses and they talk about not having a place to go back to in their group chat so I feel so fucking small time trying to talk about my own shit. Not that I really relate to them at all anyway. I haven't met nearly anyone in college who are on the level of my HS friends who went to a different college.

All there is to do here is work, go to parties, or eat out. I hate parties and I cut restaurant food out of my diet. I don't know anyone who wants to hang out with me. The culture of my major program is a bunch of extrovert normies and it's a total mismatch for me.

I wish I'd gone to game clubs or Smash tournaments I saw advertised earlier in the year but I think that'd be awkward now. Maybe I'll try them anyway. I made a huge mistake of thinking the people I knew from HS who came here would make a friend group that I could bounce off of because I can't.

My mom sent me a picture of someone on facebook saying how their kid has no friends and does nothing but work and she said "this made me sad." I don't want to tell her that that's basically me

i was a smart boy
i entered college
hated it, partied a lot, relied purely on my intellect, didn't go to class, burnt out
so i joined the navy, oh boy
5 years later and i am now a full time online school student (on top of still being in the gd navy) approaching my cis degree and it feels fucking cake
appreciate what you have man, finish it out
if i had my awareness i have today back when i was 19...

basically, don't let your apathy ruin your investment.

As a Senior in college, it only gets worse if you continue your path. Down to one friend, too unmotivated to anything fun, feel tired if i don't get 10 hours of sleep, just skip classes because who cares. Do me a favor, remove the English major if you hate it, join the Smash club, they'll welcome you, may feel awkward at first, buy you'll get comfortable soon.

Talk to the recruiters, get your name out there.

First two years you're going to drown in bullshit classes. After that it's all stuff in your field. You'll be doing more work but at least it isn't mind numbing and pointless feeling. Also try picking up exercise to blow off some steam.

So, TC, I'm going to give you a list of five things. From what I've read in your post, I'm guessing that at least three or four of them matter to you, maybe even a lot. What I want to know is, which one would you say matters the most to you right now? I'm not sure this is necessarily going to be an easy question. The are no right or wrong answers to this, as long as the answer is yours; if you just tell me what I want to hear, that would be a wrong answer, because the answer has to come from you to be useful.

Belonging: a sense of community, a place to call home. You mentioned not being entirely satisfied with your circle of friends, and you mentioned Smash tournaments that you missed but wish you hadn't. Are you feeling isolated?

Security: a sense of safety. You don't seem to be in any major physical danger at this stage, but you do seem worried about your emotional health, as well as your grades. That's a kind of safety too. Do you believe you're in danger?

Freedom: the ability to do what you want. You talk about feeling trapped, like you don't do much just for yourself anymore. Do you need to be making more of the choices in your life?

Significance: the ability to do good, meaningful work. You talk about being annoyed with busywork and bull**** courses, maybe even finding a new major. Do you need a different kind of work to do, or even (strange as it may sound) just more to do?

Meaning: "the greater good", changing the world. You don't talk about this so much, but with how exhausted you are, I'm not all that surprised you wouldn't have it in you to be hugely concerned. Honestly, there's no shame in it if you aren't. But I'm not in your head. Doubtless you're thinking lots of things I'm not privy to, and maybe some of this can be found there.

Think about these. Which one would you say matters the most to you right now? I'm not asking you to marry your answer: it will probably change over time, as you change and as your circumstances change. You'll probably end up dealing with all of them eventually. But right now, you need to chase after what matters most, whatever that means for you, because that's the place where you're most likely to find the energy you're looking for.
