They also apparently dont make motherboards with DDR4 slots for an i7-4770k...

Whelp I needed to upgrade eventually. Should I get a Ryzen 7 2700x for ~160 or an i5-9something for 150?

The 2600x is still a very good chip. They aren't better than Intel platforms, but they're still pretty decent for a budget chip. If you're looking at upgrading completely, I'd look at a Ryzen 5 3600 and a b450 motherboard. I don't know what the Intel equivalent would be.

If you're serious, check out Bitwit on Youtube. He routinely talks about budget gaming and what parts you should go with. He made a 'best bang for your buck' build that cost around $550 USD, without factoring in any sales.

Right now, if I pick what I have in mind I'd be running this:

Amd Ryzen 7 2700x
Asrock b450 mobo
1tb HDD and 1tb SSD (would eventually swap out the HDD for a 1tb m2 ssd)
Geforce RTX 2060 ultra
16 gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RGB
And a 850 watt PSU

Pretty budget but Ill check out that channel.

Get a smaller, faster m.2 drive for your boot (500GB, and a 2TB mechanical drive for storage. That's the most bang for your buck storage setup you can have right now, and you can always add more later if you need.
