This is not Final Fantasy Tactics. This is a reskin of another gacha game called Alchemist's Code from Gumi, a company that also works on Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

Damn, back in 2010, I was so hyped that one day app stores will eventually get Japanese games like on consoles and handhelds. There were some ports but only like a handful.

Now there's an unlimited amount with some of the biggest IPs on Earth, but they're all gacha bullshit.

Well not all of them.

I don't think any kemco games are gachas. They're all early SNES style jrpgs.

There's also ports as well. Final Fantasy 1 through 9 are all available on mobile. Tactics psp version as well with the slowdown issue fixed and you can do all the mp exclusive content solo.

Then there's some originals like Final Fantasy Dimensions which if no one ever told you otherwise you'd easily assume it was some lost SNES era Final Fantasy.

im already too engrossed in existing gashas to jump ship. strategy game is kind of a signifigantly different flavor vs something more controllable like a turn-based game FFBE is. plus FFBE could just be ground out pretty fast with the energy constraints it has.

energy consumption is a somewhat serious thing. since games like FEH could feel like an extreme dredge with those 3-match 10~ energy fights, in comparison to the bond grinding events that's just 1 fight for X energy.would you rather be on auto mode for 1+ hour, or shorten it severely to 5 minutes? tactical aspect of WOTV probably would force people to pay attention too much, a majority of the FFBE playerbase probably wont tolerate a genreshift.

Nobody really wanted to pay meaningful money upfront for phone games, and publishers quickly realized they'd get way more money in increments from gacha and "gems" micortransactions.

Don't expect anything not-scammy on phones until after the inevitable catastrophic mobile gaming crash.

Same thing with games now. Not to say no games sell well, but there's a reason people under 20 or so gravitate to fortnite exclusively nowadays.

Another thing to consider is content in the game. Last Cloudia is a prime example. There's no actual good/challenging content, except maybe the Tower of Trials, but it's only available 1 week a month.

Everything else is either way to excessive of a grind, drop rates for new units/marks, especially anything on banner is astronomically low, or they want you to by gem packs at $80. There's a pity system but in order to take advantage you have to save gems for a year+, or spend $800ish.

Man I can't get into these style of games. The stories are always too trash to really enjoy and are sometimes drip fed with stupid amounts of filter content to keep people playing weekly.

Makes me wish they'd do a modern FFT with nice graphics though.

There's a few games out there, many of them fairly recent that are FFT in all but name.

not only a gacha, this game also locks game features like 2x game speed under VIP system.
and the game itself just an FF reskinned The Alchemist Code (which was based on FFT).

paywall galore.

Just tried this. Seemed fun. But it seems it's chock full of gacha crap. It was in Japanese, so I didn't really go beyond the stuff they directed you towards. Movement seemed really nice.

Wish they'd stop this gacha crap, but it probably will never. It's one of the ways they tried to combat piracy and it has worked.
