In the '80s, Cannon films acquired the film rights to Superman and Spider-Man. Spider-Man's movie never materialized despite an animated cameo in the Chuck Norris vehicle Missing in Action. Superman had it worse: he appeared in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Had Superman 4 been good or decent, had Cannon not gone bankrupt (due in part to the a-IV-mentioned Superman movie), and had the Spider-Man film been made, it's possible we might've seen a potential film crossover at a time when Marvel and DC were more willing to do business with one another.

As it stands, we won't see Supes and Spidey in a film together until Disney acquires Warner Bros. And that'll be a good six years after they've purchased the entirety of South America.

Superman would kill him.

Superman has rules against that -- which he breaks in movies about as often as Batman does.

And as a Cannon film it would have been completely batshit insane.

Inter-company crossovers are always BS lol.

Spider-Man is tough as hell but he still can't stand toe to toe with Superman. Would at least be fun to see some of the creative ways they try it though.

A full blown justice league vs Avengers movie if done right could be cool. Too bad the chances of that happening are even lower than my chances to ever get laid

It probably would've had a number of flashback sequences, ninjas, a Vietnamese or Russian villain, plenty of love for A'MURRICA, and a crass-but-likable supporting character played by M. Emmet Walsh.

Now Spider-Man vs Green Lantern has some potential.

I'm only bringing up Superman and Spider-Man because, at one point in time, the same studio had the film rights to both properties.

You'd have found something to bitch about.

I typically don't pick on "bad" movies. For all its faults, the Quest for Peace is mildly entertaining in a Saturday morning cartoon show kinda way.
