It'll never replace playing the games yourself, and please believe me when I say these are extremely story-heavy games that all build up into each other, especially when they're in the same arc. But I mean...CSIII will still be enjoyable if you just do the synopsis route, going by what other new players have said. Other than that though, who tf seriously thinks CS I & II looks the same as III, graphically? The Crossbell games happen at the same time as the Cold Steel games, and there are some references to Trails in the Sky in CS as well. There's nothing plot wise that you'll miss by not knowing these, but it does add extra significance to the others that have played it. I _really_ hope that we finally see the Crossbell games in the west.
