I really can't see any reason why the 99% would be opposed to the 1% paying more for them.

You would think this proposal would have been approved a long time ago.

Yet, it feels like most of the 99% do NOT want the 1% to pay for them, which doesn't make sense to me unless I'm missing something.

I guess my question is why?

They hate the rich, yet don't want the rich to get taxed?

A universal health care system in the US will most likely not be single payer. You can't realistically make private insurance illegal.

Because Bernie is a lying con artist. He says M4A will be cheaper than what we have now when right now there are 27 million people uninsured and we have illegal aliens without insurance. So M4A will cover everybody - including those 27 million and illegals - and it'll be cheaper than what we have now? It's not adding up. Your taxes are going to skyrocket and you're going to have to pay for illegal alien care, as well as people who don't take care of themselves and end up in the hospital monthly.
It could potentially be cheaper than what we have now overall (though not guaranteed), if it also involved removing all the expenditure that comes from our current private healthcare system.

But America's political climate won't let it happen anyway.

You already pay for those things with your insurance premiums and your absurdly high medical bills that you have despite having insurance. The difference between the current system and M4A is that now you are also paying for C suite level executives to get millions of dollar in bonuses.

Everyone with medical insurance already pays for all that.

Because someday they may be the 1% too!

The real issue is all these insurance and medical companies that have made all these prices sky rocket. Bernie is right in that it's pretty ridiculous we don't have M4A in this country in comparison to other major countries. As it currently stands yeah what he wants to do would cost a lot of money, but he is the only candidate out there that seems to want to actually change this country in a meaningful way. Whether he could actually accomplish that if he wins is one thing, but he's legit the only person that seems like actually cares about people.

Because Democrats didn't want it when they passed ACA without a single Republican vote and Republicans don't want it if it's not their idea.

Lol jk, it's because the corporations that profit off the system get what they want because there is no cap on lobbying. They're grateful for every bickering that blames politicians though.

Most of the cost of the current system is due to administrative costs for dealing with the hundreds of different private insurances.

Undocumented immigrants only account for 1.4% of medical expenditure in the US even though they make up 5% of the population.

People said when passing Obamacare your premium wouldn't go up. They were WRONG. They went up 20%-30%+. If M4A gets passed (it never will), your taxes will go up drastically if you make $29,000+ yr.

We need a better system, I agree! I have one laid out already:

* Illegal aliens that go to the ER or hospital visit? Take them down to jail to get the care they need by the jail nurse and then deport them. Asset forfeitures any possessions they have on them and any property they own. Collect all of it to offset the cost of their care.

For Americans: Pools!

* Smoke? Higher premium
* Risk taker? Higher premium
* Obese? Higher Premium
* Morbidly obese? Even higher premium!
* Safe driving record? Lower premium
* Exercise daily? Lower premium
* Eat healthy? Lower premium

We need to start punishing people for driving up the cost of healthcare that have them visiting the ER/hospital more times than the people who don't have bad habits.

lmao. You really are dedicated.

That is not an argument against universal health care. Most countries that have universal health care, including most countries in Europe don't have single payer health care, which is Bernie's plan. There's no reason to expect that the US would go from no universal health care to single payer health care.

The United States is a republic, not a democracy. The Senate is there to represent the individual States at the Federal level, NOT the people of the States. Or at least it was originally, the "Progressives" of the 1910s screwed that up along with a lot of other things.

You need a good civics course.
