Hmm... pyromancy is tempting, and necromancy would be useful for the inevitable zombie apocalypse, but blood magic might get me one step closer to being an Actual Vampire. Of course, the same can be said for necromancy... but then, I could also come up with a way to use blood magic to steal or absorb the magic of other people. In theory.

Good question, using your power consistently feels the same on your body as lightly jogging in place. The more power you use, your body feels the effect of light jog up to sprinting in place. The sprinting effect is the absolute maximum your mind can think of for your power. Control your breathing and hydrate.

Shapeshifter, just get creative enough and you can replicate most of the other powers.

Necromancer as having extra hands would be really useful for anything. Lightning is a close second though.

If water hits you at the right speed it might as well be a cement wall. It's why you can't just drop into water from a free fall.

It does, but the point is if you think water is capable of destroying the planet then you'd be mistaken. On a base level water can suffocate. At a high speed it can cut through steel. It cancels out most forms of fire and is strong enough to erode earth. We as humans are 60 percent water. The ability to control water would give you the ability to control movement, as seen in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Tsunamis, Tidal Waves, Water Spouts, Sinkholes, there are tons of messed up things water can do other than just flooding. Not to mention the concept of an Ice Age, which scares me to the core.
