Allow me to explain:

Men are supposed to be able to hold their own in a fight, if need be. Men are supposed to be able to fight better than women. Men are supposed to be manly.

But once you're in your late 30s, that's gone. Look at this article: https://www.fightful.com/mma/exclusives/analysis-average-age-among-ufc-elite-and-what-does-it-mean

Most fighters have an 8-10 year career, commencing around the age of 22, peaking in their late 20s and sliding off (often drastically) around the age of 32. There will always be outliers but based on what Ive seen, read, etc, this is what history has shown us.

Take into consideration MMA mileage, and these numbers will change. For those who may not know, MMA mileage is basically the amount of training (sometimes hard training and sparring) that a fighter has endured. Some start in their teens, peak in their mid 20s then begin to fall off in their late 20s.
Others get a late start to their MMA careers, say in their mid to late 20s, and will peak in their early 30s and begin falling off in their mid to late 30s.

These are elite athletes/fighters, who do everything right - nutrition, training, sleep, no drinking, etc. They still fall off by their late 30s. Imagine just how much more drastic is the physical decline of an average couch potato or a regular, averagely active man who has a beer from time to time, a guy with a dad body, etc.

Once you're in your 40s, your average 20-something will be able to beat you up. Once you're 45, which is by no means geriatric but not young, an athletic woman can probably beat you up too, especially if she goes for the nuts. Once you're 45, if you're not in shape already you will never be.

But it gets worse: by 45 you won't be attractive. those 20-something HOPAs will think you're gross. Good luck getting laid with attractive women at that age if you're not married already.

How do men deal with this? I'm in my mid 20s and this already worries me.

How about you go to a gym, and look at some buff middle aged dudes, and realize your post is mostly unfounded anxiety?

that won't make you look manly or feel manly if any average dude in his 20s (and many women!) can beat you up when you're 45

Being weak is easy if you actually have depth to your character and don't rely on standards from the primal age. How do meatheads deal with ignoring thousands of years of evolution and not being able to mentally keep up?

If they did, they wouldn't admit it and try to ignore it because they'd see it as a weakness. They'd stay mentally weak from not fighting it head on.

Old people can fight just fine. Pro fighters are so top of the line that a minute difference can change everything... go down to your local golds gym and try fighting a random 43 year old.

Workout(lifting weights) but it's something that is best started during younger years and continued on for the rest of you life. Hell lift every other day.

This is me too. I feel like I haven't seen any decline in strength or size going into my early 30's, but I feel like it'll hit me one day. I hope I'll age more gracefully and won't experience as much weakness or pain with this "preventative maintenance" though.

It really sucks that the prime of your life is so damn short though. Maybe like late teens/early 20's to 40? I don't want to wake up one day and suddenly "Ugh, I'm weak and in pain. Ugh, I can't see without glasses." What's even the sense of living anymore at that point? Lol. That's the shit that bothers me the most though. I don't wanna be just a shell of my former self.

There's so many factors that would go into that beyond just pure age that it's ridiculous. When you started lifting, genetics, nutrition during your younger years vs today, your routine, etc all fall in the mix. Even what you mean when you say gains (reps, amount of weight moved, amountvif exercises, how much you can push yourself without injury, muscle mass, low body fat percentage).

How do you quantify any of that if you switch your routine to focus on pure strength instead of endurance. You lose one apple and gain one orange.
