A recent filing shows that Sony hit the daily double and spent a mere 229 MILLION to buy INSOMNIAC GAMES after it's massive Spider Man hit that the creator made for the studio!!

It apparently happened last August which brings an end to the studio's 25 year independent status who's developed Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Spyro and Sunset Overdrive..

Spiderman sold a huge 3.3 million in just 3 days and sold 9 million worldwide with 13.2 million shipped

The figure was relatively low for a studio purchase as they bought them on the cheap compared to Microsoft paying 375 million smackers for Rare and EA buying Respawn for 455 Million.

Do you think Sony got a good deal on the purchase?

Crappy studio, probably overpaid. Just not as much as MS has on their studios.

I made a thread a few days ago about Insomniac but ended up deleting it.

I mentioned how it was so weird they got a hold of Spiderman considering how they were on the decline.

They were practically first party anyway. Love R&C.

Honestly, it's possible they overpaid for it. These things can be hard to value. And, in general, Microsoft has overpaid for the properties it's bought to buy its way into markets so looking at what M$ paid for anything isn't an indication.

I'm not a huge fan, Sunset was pretty but I never really got into it. That said, even if Spider-Man winds up their only hit it still seems like it was an okay deal.
