As far as SW is concerned, honestly the line is perfectly in-character for Anakin, thinking about it. He's a 19-year old who has lived a sheltered life thanks to his Jedi training. The problem is that this is simply not a relatable situation for most people! That was probably why the prequels were so notoriously disappointing to many.
