I used to think vinyl collectors were pretentious and I could never tell the difference between them and listening to a CD or streaming on something like Spotify. I've been collecting video game soundtracks (CD's) for almost 20 years, but I finally bit the bullet and bought an Audiotechnica record player and got some records of Rammstein, The Prodigy, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Kraftwerk, Boards of Canada, and a few others and I can now tell a big difference in the sound clarity and it's really good!
Playing vinyl does have a few downsides, like not pausing or skipping tracks, and getting up and flipping the sides over, but I feel like vinyl is meant for a short listening bursts or playing in the background while cleaning, etc. I do need some better speakers as I'm using a soundbar for my television and not sure what are great speakers to buy. --- Playing: Yakuza 0, Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride Awaiting: Resident Evil 3, Final Fantasy VII Remake ... My dad has a lot of vinyls, but because he's getting old he wants to give them a good home... no rush, still thinking about it, but perhaps one of you guys would like them?
