They were in RBY. Due to the way they were coded, Great Balls were better. They were really only useful in GSC, since there wasn't really a better option. Even RSE had Timer Balls for legendaries.

I beat lance. Dragonite was REALLY easy, he didn't have any electric attacks and I just had to dank that draco attack, made him drop his special attack.

He was as useful as a kitten

I started off the battle with Red with Stampy out first

he brings out Pikachu

I have always cursed his ability, Snow Cloak. I wish I had the more useful Oblivious. Both are situational but I ran into the love status way more often.

It started fucking hailing up on the mountain top

HE DODGED THE IRON TAIL, WHICH WOULDVE KILLED HIM, COMING FROMT HIS LVL 88 PIKACHU (holy shit)

AND KILLED PIKA IN ONE HIT

YES GREAT START

He brings out Blastoise and I take out Midler. Unfortunately he has Blizzard and instantly kills her

I bring out Silk and she was doing a good job tanking his attacks, but eventually red switches him out for Charizard. I bring out Grater

he took a few potions and some finessing, but eventually Grater takes him down. THEN HE BRINGS OUT LAPRAS

I DON"T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR LAPRAS

He starts MURDERING my team. He takes out Silk, Grater, and Stampy. Fucking BLIZZARD man.

so I used Diablo's turn to revive Midler

Midler has Quick Claw and she managed to paralyze lapras. I revive Silk at this point and then Lapras kills Midler. We're at like 6 blizzards at this point. Fucker

I don't think I've ever mentioned this but Silk has Rock Smash. I figured its actually handle with Silk, with her ability and all. Rock Smash is not only super effective, but Lapra's defenses kept going down. Red did use a full restore to heal her but her defenses are so low that Rock Smash OHKO'd her. OH GOD YES

Red brings out Venusaur and VENUSAUR CAN"T DO ANYTHING TO SILK

Not very effective moves all around

at this point I start reviving everyone and healing them

Venusaur tries to sleep powder, then does Frenzy Plant while Silk is sleeping. I discovered that as soon as She goes to sleep, I just wake her up. She tanks the hit, and then I get a free attack because Frenzy Plant requires a recharge

Venus goes down

Blastoise comes down but I eventually take him down too

FINALLY SNORLAX

I just start spamming Rock Smash. Defenses go down, Full restores keep him alive, but Rock Smash keeps getting stronger and stronger. Snorlax's last desperate attack, blizzard, (fucking seriously man? Fuck you Devs) freezes Silk

but after that happens, the hail kills snorlax

The tower you found is your source for Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza, as I recall, though I don't remember how you activate them.

If you hunt around the Internets there might be a way to get yourself event access, which would give you some neat story stuff like revealing why Giovanni didn't run off to join Team Rocket, and also confirming your rival's true identity. Also the requisite rare/mythical Pokmon and whatnot. I have no idea what that would actually entail though.

Ampharos was bad ass, TOO bad ass even. It sucked having to cut him but I felt I needed more variation. But he DID get to meet the new members because I had to traverse a few caves and he still knew flash

Fergrater ...wasn't too great. I dunno, maybe I'm biased, I LOVE Blastoise, but he didn't impress me too much. NOW, it might have something to do with him eventually becoming an HM whore. I even said in the last topic that a starter becoming an HM whore. I promised him it wouldn't happen and then it happened. He probably detests me now. I broke his dreams and my promise. He wasn't any good until he got Waterfall. and Slash never crit'd once

Bellossom was adorbs and I enjoyed having her on my team. Unfortunately..she wasn't a fighter. Everytime I play I always have a plant to teach cut, and to have a drain attack to help stall, and to have stun spore and sleeping powder to catch pokemon.

Steelix sucked

Gyarados is one of my favorite pokemon, so making him take a back seat to be another HM whore was a weird yet different take. As I said, I had to justify having him on my team again.

Houndoom ...just sucked man. The thing is, I chose him over Honchkrow for the fire element....but if I had any idea how bad ass Scizor was, ESPECIALLY with that badass technician ability, Rock Smash WAS ACTUALLY VIABLE (as far as how I used him)
but I digress. Houndoom was just too slow. He had a nature that supported Special attack but it still wasn't anything significant. and he had a glass jaw too. I should've seriously stuck to Honchkrow like I planned. Then that brings up another bunch of problems like having a 2nd bird. but again I digress. Doom was disappointing

Togekiss was a delight to use and I'm glad the game just give him to you. Its just HORRIBLE you can only get him post game. That medium togepi was just kinda meh. Kiss with Air cutter was awesome (thanks for that suggestion)

then Finally Manoswine was awesome. He was slow, fat, can't jump high, but hes one helluva guy :D
Its what Doom SHOULD have been. He was just wrecking bitches and he could take hits. His weaknesses are just dumb though. I went over it but His Ice element does not protect him against grass or water. Even though Ice beats grass >_>. And water doesn't beat ice either. I DUNNO MAN WTF. I guess they had to balance him SOMEHOW. Like giving a Gyarados flying type that he can't really use just so electrics can destroy him. But I digress.

SCIZOR

SCIZOR WAS THE MVP BABY. As I've said, I ALWAYS Wanted to train A scyther. Scythers are cool IMO. But I dunno, I don't think they were GOOD in RBY. I apparently could've made him work with agility and slash but meh. But thanks to Steel type and X scissor, he was incredible. AND HE WAS THE HARDEST HITTER ON THE TEAM, even harder than Manoswine. Yall never had anything good to say about Rock Smash, so I taught it to him without saying anything. MAN it got me out of so many jams. It makes him viable against ice and other steels. See? Makes Houndoom redundant a bit.

But yea, I did not regret training up more people.

And if I recall there's only one guaranteed shiny in the Battle Frontier and that's at the end of the tower in Fire Red and Leaf Green. So yeah RNGesus screwed ya.
