You people make me laugh. *smh* Lois McMaster Bujold did the dome thing in 1987, twenty years before The Simpsons Movie & Stephen King decided to reuse the idea around the same time. Hers was a forcefield used for a prison camp, and very effective.

The whole "bioweapon" theory is obviously nonsense to anyone that understands how easy it is to engineer an actual supervirus that would be far, far more dangerous than this coronavirus has been. I remember reading about a guy who engineered a variant of mousepox (murine equivalent of smallpox) that incorporated a gene that allowed it to completely bypass the mouse's immune system, giving it a 100% mortality rate, and it was figured that doing the same to human smallpox would stand a pretty decent chance of wiping out humanity. Also, any decent bioterror agent can be aerosolized, which is not the case for a virus that requires direct contact for transmission.

I certainly wouldn't put it past China to be experimenting with bioweaponry and unleashing it on some of their citizens to test its effectiveness, but quite simply, this coronavirus isn't good enough at its job to make me suspect that that's what's going on here. They could also have done a much better job of keeping such testing under wraps, and likely would have if they were developing it for military use.

Remember, they don't have to have released it intentionally. Accidental release of a virus that was being used in bioweapon research is entirely possible. Heck, the CCP could even argue that they were doing so with the intention of learning how to prevent such a thing. I don't think anyone would believe them because China but it wouldn't make the *least* sense. Make a deadly bioweapon so you can develop a cure before any actual situations occur. Then all they need is some janitor to not pay attention and accidentally knock over the wrong dish or something and virus released.

Plus I feel like China would be smarter than to develop a bioweapon; especially considering that their population would be both highly vulnerable and in ample supply for the virus. Even if they targeted another nation and released it without suspicion the sheer volume of trade in China, combined with exceedingly lax standards and a lot of people in poverty, would ensure any bioweapon could rip through their population with ease. Then again the CCP seems one cat short of becoming super villains at times...

I don't believe the bioweapon theory because a much simpler, logical, and historically 'accurate' (if that's the right way) method exists with the wet market theory. Not because I don't believe China wouldn't do such a thing, just that there's a better answer.

Why would it be? The virus seems to have originated there and has already killed hundreds.
