Indiana University is standing behind an event held on campus that promotes BDSM SAFETY and overall SEX HEALTH EDUCATION after a conservative student shared a video of the vent calls it BLASPHEMY that promotes SEXUAL VIOLENCE!!

Matt Ahmann, a congress member of the student government took to twitter to slam the university for taking part of their fifth annual SexFest

He said "Here's the video @IUBloomington sponsored and paid for event promoting sexual violence. This event was held in an open room of a dorm hall"

The video shows 2 bdsm practioners explaining and demonstrating a proper technique for flogging on a woman at the school

The University has hosted this event for 5 years and it's organized by students run Sexual Health advocacy Group, the Community Capacity for Prevention and Education, the Resident Hall association and the IU Health Centre as the university invites all students too attend and to hear personal stories from individuals who practice in BDSM

Other activities include KICK OFF TO KINK that focuses on discussion about desire and communication and even a KINK WORKSHOP where people are able to browse booths demonstrating the use of different sex toys

But Ahmann finds these events "disturbing" and is disappointed that the University continues to support a WEIRD EVENT

The University maintains that there are more students who interested in these events than those against it because it promotes sex safety

Ahmann disagrees and plans to form a demonstration on the event and garnering signatures to CANCEL this "perverted event" that goes against moral and decency

Nobody gets to college without knowing what a condom is, and in the magical event that all of these students came from a cult out in the desert and truly don't know how to have safe sex, some asshole spanking a chick is not going to teach them.

That said, I'm not against the college hosting this. So long as they don't use tuition money and try to hide it behind the guise of "teaching safe sex", I wouldn't give a shit as a student.

It is absolutely teaching safer sex practices. BDSM is massively popular, and a lot of people don't know how to do it safely. Many people get hurt doing it wrong because they didn't know any better

I think it's fair. Say you and your lady want to give it a shot. Don't want to have either of you actually injured from it.

Like I said, haven't tried. But have friend that does. She's told me about it a little. It's about consent and communication.

People have sex. People like sex. Drunken idiots who can't handle their drink trying different/new things could end up being very dangerous.

After spending more time on Google than I should have, I can almost certainly confirm that the Wilkie Formal Lounge which this event took place in isn't just the foyer of the building. It's a specific room where scheduled events take place. So yes, he did in fact specifically go to an event that he was offended by.

If you still doubt that this wasn't in an open room, that nervous-twink-in-his-first-gangbang lookin' dude was aware of what he was walking into, and that he's kind of a jackass:

Students who attend this event will be required to sign a BDSM Safety Panel Contract where they will agree to not use any recording devices, maintain the confidentiality of the panelists, and to be respectful of all participants.

Furthermore, the article TC used didn't mention the response which mentions that this was one of the most requested topics by students:

One of the topics most requested by students was how to practice BDSM safety, Indiana University spokesperson Chuck Carney told Campus Reform. Our public health researchers have found some evidence to suggest that people are engaging in a broader range of sexual activities and as a result, it is the IU Health Center's mission to make sure they practice it safely, following the BDSM communitys principal tenets of 'safe, sane, and consensual.'"

So yeah, this event is fine and the fella's a butthole.

You know, you're right. I tend to skim duckbear's awful attempts at rewriting clickbait, so between that and what I had picked up from people in this topic I incorrectly thought it was branded as a BDSM plus safe sex... lecture? Event. You're right, it was a event on how to practice BDSM safely. I retract my former complaint over them trying to get one over.

That said, were I a student attending this college, I still wouldn't like my tuition being used for something like this. Now, were it paid for via fundraising, a bake sale, tickets for admission, or even put on for free as a public service, I'd have no complaints.

Kid has a point, but for all the wrong reasons basically.

I'm sure everyone has things they don't want student tuition funding because it isn't of interest or relevant to them. That is part of going to university.

I never parked on campus while I was in school. Why should my tuition go to their giant parking garage? My roommate never went to the schools fitness center. Why should his tuition go to maintaining that facility?

My guess is that the tuition money spent on this event is pretty small potatoes compared to the spending for other items large swaths of the students don't have interest in.

Whole education system is full of moral degenerates.

Additional info: only the one night was about the BDSM stuff.

The second day was apparently a "Condoms and Cupcake" event which included free HIV screening. Then what I'm guessing is a voguing dance show in the evening.

Then the last day is a "sexual health interactive tabling." Which I guess could be BDSM too, but I sort of doubt it given that the first day is called a kink workshop.1
