I know, I just kind of didnt care about it after two. Then it spiralled out of control and was convinced it had become some kind of joke franchise. I am going to attempt to be caught up by the time I can watch this newest one.

Fast Five is so good just skip to that one. Tokyo Drift is basically a spin-off and I never saw the fourth (and I think its generally considered bad) and managed just fine so jump to Fast Five

and then if you like it, go back and watch Tokyo Drift because it actually is relevant later on

I assume I am one of the very few that actually liked them more after they stopped being about street races and turned into pure-action movies
All you need to do is have a mindset of "it's not supposed to make sense" and then you can enjoy them
Taking it seriously is a mistake

5 is where it morphed into what it is now I think. That's when the escalation began. And it's by far my favourite of them tbh.

I think this is a very common opinion. The first few movies are sort of fun and dumb still, but they didnt become amazing until 5. The first movie is basically just a worse version of Point Break and the second is kind of a so bad its good situation and Tokyo Drift is maybe just actually bad?

I went to see 5 with pretty low expectations and it seriously blew my mind.

I saw Fast Five in theaters absolutely obliterated out of my mind and it was one of the best movie experiences Ive ever had in my entire life.

I already said I was going to marathon them from start to finish. It has been forever since I watched the first two so I might as well refresh my memory to start off.

1 > 3 (criminally underrated) > 5 > 7 > 6 > 8 > 4 > H&S > 2

1 and 3 are legitimately great movies that do a nice job at setting up a niche subculture. 5-8 are some of the best action movies of the generation. 4 is decent but somewhat forgettable. Hobbs and Shaw and 2Fast are silly.

Tokyo drift is debatable better but it's both a spin off and a prequel and a sequel so just know it's cool and relevant but not that important either

Seeing 7 so high up on lists makes me think this franchise is not for me. Even going in with the "turn your brain off and enjoy mindless action" approach, I was bored the whole time. Maybe they'd make good drinking movies with a group of friends though.

They are here to get exponentially more ridiculous until the inevitable finale where Dom uppercuts a Death Star and Cena and Rock double suplex the main villain into a black hole.
