I used to like playing those golf games that they have at bars with the rolly ball when I was a kid.

Depends on the metal inside the club, but it can be anywhere from $200-500 for an average set of 12-14. Clubs can rent them out to you, with it being around $55-65 for a set at a lower-end club and $75-100 at a higher-end. I'd love to pick up a set that was donated to Goodwill or someplace like it, but I haven't found clubs that I'd like to have as they're usually in horrible shape or not in stock.

I play golf. I'm not very good but I do enjoy it. I'd be a lot better if I went more often and maybe took a few lessons.

I used to watch golf on tv when I was younger. Haven't actually gone to a golf course since 2006 when I took a class in college. Plenty of mini golf though.

A co-worker wants to start going golfing after work because there's a 9 hole course nearby. That won't be until after daylight savings time starts though. Still gets dark at about 5:20pm right now.

I've played golf. Never been all that good at it. I think I shot like a 72...

On a 9 hole course...

Haven't played in a very long time. I used to play with my brother; he got to play occasionally when he worked at the county club.

I've only played once and was terrible. I might watch it sometimes with family but never on my own.

I've played golf in my youth - my dad's the avid golfer of the family, though. According to him, my swing's more natural than his. I have a tendency to hook or slice the ball, though I also have a fair share of shots I like to brag about.

There's a Topgolf driving range not too far from where I went to university - I've gone there a few times.

Bowling is more my speed, though.

Not an expensive hobby unless you are an elitist.

$4 for clubs. You can play a decent game of Par 3 golf with just a 9-iron and a putter. You can find good irons and putters at thrift stores for a couple of bucks each. A dozen balls for $15 and you're set

Greens fee for the Executive 9-holes at a public golf course is about $15.

You don't need to rent a golf cart to carry two clubs and a pocket full of balls on a course with maximum 100-yard holes.

I teach an Adult Recreational Golf class for the local state university every summer. Par-3, the County Parks and Recreation golf course, thrift shop clubs, used balls. For use by a class of 30, I have 50 or so 8 and 9 irons, 50 or so putters, various sizes, left- and right-handed, that I have collected over the years for maybe a total $150 investment. i'm helped by a bunch of grad student teaching assistants who I think actually have more fun than the golf students.

Nobody is going to play a good game of golf with clubs that cost $2 each. Which I doubt actually exist anyway.

You're welcome to doubt anything you want. If new WalMart clubs make you a better golfer than 20 year old thrift shop Callaways, TaylorMades, and Pings, good on ya.

I repeat, for someone wanting to get into golf, it can be done quite cheaply. Public par-3 course, thrift shop/pawn shop clubs, recycled balls.
