I've actually done this, but I knew how to play. The odds cannot be that high.

I'm now upset I don't have a picture of this, I did it back in 2006.

You're completely missing what they mean. The odds are that low to complete Minesweeper with each move you make being random.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

That's what I thought. So with literally no forethought or knowledge beforehand.

I think it would take at least 3 clicks, but I can't test that out.

Yes, if the rng throws all mines in the same corner (or as long as no two mines are separated by a single empty place) but its probably very unlikely to happen.

This would be the classic win xp version, the timer starts at one so its the best possible time, it felt random though

Im more proud of between expert under 150 seconds

I cleared expert but damn it wasn't even close to that.

At the end it basically becomes luck for the most part. End of expert was quite ambiguous IIRC.

You couldn't be quite sure. Or maybe it took more number crunching.

You can get it in the store, but at this point I'm too paranoid to even try download it, even if it's free. I wish I was actually joking.

You'll often end up having to make one or two random guesses, but not always.

I think my best ever on expert was right around 90 seconds.

I like that odds channel, and yes, the royal flush odds are on spot (my dad literally got one in real poker) my best was a straight flush, but not in real poker (note: whatever knockoff did not overly favor high hands in any regard, but if you ever played free video blackjack you would get 20s more often than not.)

Maybe I should start flipping a coin more often.

Theres luck if you run into a 50 50, but theres people beating expert in 40 seconds or less, theyre for sure skilled

Newer versions apparently use an algorithm so that you dont get 50 50s

It's possible IF the mine generation is truly random. Some generations of Minesweeper have safeguards against that and are 99% random.

Hell, I think some versions make it so your first click is NEVER a mine; if it was a mine, it moves the mine to a different, random location.

Its cant be though, there has to be rules to how it generates I would thinks

Afaik its impossible for a mine to be inside a ring of mines like a 3x3 or more, you cant just have grids of mines

i been playing on my phone now that i really understand how to play it. it's not the old pc version but one on my phone. it's 18x32 with 100 mines so think it's about what expert is or maybe even harder then it. so damn hard to finish it though. i hate when i get like 90% done with it and then i'm left to a 50/50 or worse odds guess and lose.

If you got a 3 on a wall, everything everything that 3 touches is a bomb

If you got a 1221 on a wall, the tiles sharing a wall with those 2s are bombs

4 on an l shaped corner with 4 tiles? Theyre all bombs

Theres more, but you pick on all these patterns

I programmed a minesweeper clone forever ago for fun, and the way I made it was the first click was what triggered the bomb generator. Made that box empty and then randomized the rest with variables to keep track of how many bombs I had placed and if-then-else checks to verify if there isn't already a bomb there (or if it isn't the starting position)
But I guess adding safeguards to be sure it doesn't clear the whole board would also be possible, never thought of that since, honestly, the chances of that are so slim that it's not worth the time.
