One guy's from Canada, the other's from Japan." The USA chant is used like it's a ward against anyone foreign or anyone that represents something foreign. In this case, American-born Muhammad Hassan was an adherent of the "foreign" religion of Islam. Never mind that Christianity is also of Middle Eastern origin or that having such a blatantly Islamophobic character was a good way to lose sponsors.
