Japan > China so Shogun > TK

Shogun 2 is the best historical Total War. The Warhammer ones edge its out for me cause of the wealth of content.

But Shogun 2 is fucking amazing.

Much, much newer...and I would have to believe bigger. Total war games don't tend to backwards.

Total War is like one of Segas big last stands at this point, unfortunately.

Combat is lame, just a bunch of tiny ants slowly marching towards a mosh pit.

Map mode is boring, upgrade one or two builds and spam end turn.

/big yawn.

I'd say its the best mix of rts and turn base strategy there has been.

But no, it is certainly not of the A.D.D crowd.

I haven't play a whole lot lately. But I did think Universe At War was highly overlooked.
Really total war has filled that spot for me. The battles can be positively epic if played right...as past of an ongoing campaign.

Niice. The first one is one of my favorite games ever. Still play it sometimes. Its RISK but actually fun.

I decided the first battle that I will dedicate some effort to is that which took place at Sekigahara. It seems that Miyamoto Musashi -- the greatest Samurai who ever lived -- took place in that battle, albeit fighting for the losing side. Looks like the game wants me to fight for that side and change history! I'll do it for Musashi!

It's the best Total War game honestly. Some great mods for it out there too. I really like the combination of something that extends the length of seasons/years and one that splits the map up into all of the actual provinces/factions.

i think shogun 2 is the only one with an active community playing the battles competitively

it has a really great set of customization options and the differences between one unit and another are pretty substantial

I got it downloaded. But I'm sure it will be a bear to figure it out.

At least with the Euro-type games I kinda understand the units going into it.
Still I can see this game being amazing. It's just that typical Total War learning curve.

Shimazu is basically easy mode. Date and Takeda were my favorites.

Even tho in a n00b, I decided to attack Higo at a disadvantage. Im gonna attack in the fog and maybe that will give me the elephant of surprise.

I'm pretty sure weather has been a feature in every total war game.

I can't say I've felt it on the ones I've played on.
I may have seen it. But I never felt it made that big of an impact.
Not like fog of war style anyway.
