For me, absolutely.

Also, Kobe was global. He was out making a name for himself way before anyone else was doing that, Ive seen pictures of tributes from all over the world.

Because not everyone lives in the US + the few other countries that care about Basketball. Being from the UK I had no idea who he was at first.

Diana was huge and all over the place.

Kobe is mainly limited to sports channels. Not to mention, it doesn't help MSM chooses to focus more on Kobe's allegations from 2003 than anything else.

Not even close. I'll admit I'm not a basketball fan to begin with, but I appreciated Kobes work, but Diana was the last royal to not be corrupted, prior to William and Harry. There is so much evidence that her death was a planned murder it isn't even funny.

You dont need to care about the sport to know who he is. Ive never watched a football match but I know who David Beckham and Christiano Ronaldo are. Kobe is even more famous than them

Harry and Williams birth mother. She died in a car "accident" about 20 or so years ago. And then Charles decided to marry Camilla and we all know how she is viewed throughout the public. Diana, however, was viewed as the peoples princess. She wasn't born into the Royal Family so while she was disliked by some royals she was loved by the people as she was kind and humble and truly wanted what was best for the people of Britain.

Similarly you don't to care about British royalty to know who Diana was. You'd just need to have some recollection of '97 due to the insane amount of coverage her death got. I was 10 at the time, so foreign royalty was the farthest thing on my mind. Yet I'm able to say exactly what I was doing when the news broke because of how shocked everyone else was.

Its a bigger deal/bigge impact to late gen X and milennials for sure.

There are more people now than there were 23 years ago.. But Princess DIana was a wordly icon, where Kobe is famous primarely in the u.s. and a few other countries that follow basketball.

To those who were adults in the 90s. How was MJs death compared to Dianas?

MJ was world wide, his music reached countless millions and thriller sold more than idk, I'm pretty sure it's the biggest selling album of all time. Diana married a prince and got divorced and remarried. It's definitely a notch below MJ. I mean, look at what MJ got accused of and still had a giant celebration for his death. In the 80s though, no one bigger.

Oh, youd be surprised. Of course not everyone follows them, but theres definitely a worldwide fascination for royalty. This was amplified with Diana, who was a literal princess, like the kind that girls dream about being, and she was very charismatic and actively involved in humanitarian aid projects.
