this movie has more pot holes than a inner city Detroit road in February
Yeah, I was constantly asking myself "is a fleet of a million Star Destroyers really necessary", "why is Rey's staff suddenly her tie to the dark side", "could they really not just follow through on offing Chewie", etc etc. Not what I would call plot holes necessarily, but just weird decisions I couldn't understand the rationale for that kept setting me up for disappointment.

I understand this decision was a based on money. Chewie can be a mascot for decades now. Just like Artoo and Threepio. Just under Vader helmet.

They should have just made Rey his great granddaughter.

Palps was almost old enough to be Vader's grandfather already, and yet his actual granddaughter is the same age as Vader's grandson?

I mean he was middle aged in episode 1.

Seriously, where are you guys getting your math from? Are we looking at the same timeline???

Emperor, has child shortly before Revenge of the Sith i.e. ~20 years BBY. Child lives 34 years and has a child of its own (Rey) at 34 years of age. Rey reaches 20 years of age and The Force Awakens begins.

Nowhere, that's where. Because nobody cares enough to wookiepedia a Star Wars timeline to discover something as stupid as why a middle aged dude and a little kid end up having grandchildren the same age just to justify something as stupid as Disney for no reason deciding a middle aged dude and a little kid should end up having grandchildren the same age.

Im basing my flippant claims on nothing at all but my own psychotic fantasies therefore I am superior to you.

Im not defending Disney, Im defending elementary-level mathematics. Anakin was 23 at the time of ROTS. Do you not know basic biology? Men can have offspring pretty old in age, with much younger mates. My mom birthed me at 42. Not to mention possible Sith forces at work like, you know, similar to when he fucking created Anakin in a womans womb out of thin fucking air.

Sidious didn't create anakin this was debunked in the EU and it was debunked in Disney canon. The writer who wrote the comic where vader saw a vision of him next to padme with a swirl in her womb outright stated he didn't create him. It was a metaphor about how he has dominated anakin's life since he was born.

Ah, interesting, thanks. Point still stands though as the math works out even for normal humans in our real-life world who have never dabbled in dark mystical magic.

Plagueis likely created Anakin. And Sidious knew about it.

Dang, the plot thickens. Which story implies this?

Note: I love Ian McDiarmid's acting at 01:31. Palpatine totally looks like he's reliving the moment he murdered his master.

This has been debunked as well. It is confirmed the force did indeed make anakin. In the EU it was Plagueis trying to create life and the force pushed back against that and created anakin to restore the balance due to the blatant meddling in the balance. In Disney Canon we don't have much on plagueis because the plagueis novel is non canon. The story group confirmed the force itself made anakin and the dark side is an unreliable narrator.
I'm just going on films only. Haven't got much into EU yet. Been meaning to start with the novelizations
