It's tricky because a good amount of right wings don't understand the difference between government/politics and religion. But I chose politics. Eh

Agreed, right people tend to combine religion and politics, and right wing people don't know how to compromise with other people. So those make them angry.

I haven't been a part of a religion discussion like ever lol. I just let people believe what they want, and that basically satisfies everyone I've ever met about religion --- its da bowser wowser bomb yall http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3376/bwbomb.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

People who say politics over religion need to think a bit broader. People fly actual planes into buildings over religion. The political climate right now is pretty shitty but it isn't THAT bad imho.

Religion treads on the most core ideas to people usually.
If you don't have religion, then it's politics. If you don't have either of those, it's sports. Beyond that, it'll be hobbies or your fav music. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

as far as i can tell, whenever people get "angry" in a discussion on religion, they're not actually discussing religion
more often than not, it has become a political discussion in a religion context. like, no one get's actually angry over "and then Moses parted the red sea" it's always shit like "let religious nuts make anti-abortion laws, yes or no?", "are Jehovas Witnesses weirdos?" "something something circumcision" and "someone made a picture of our prophet, i must kill" those are politics --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

as far as i can tell, whenever people get "angry" in a discussion on religion, they're not actually discussing religion That's not it though. It's about questioning the basic facts of the religion. Do you get many opportunities to speak with devoutly religious people over there? I do worry about my safety when the topic of religion comes up and I dont agree with what others are saying. Im talking about basic, core beliefs of Christians, like debating whether or not Jesus really did do any of the miracles hes credited with. I cant imagine how unwise it would be to do something comparable in a Muslim-majority nation. --- ... ... Copied to Clipboard!

Wait, arent you Swedish? Do you get many opportunities to speak with devoutly religious people over there? Apart from religion class in school, not much personally. That's just an observation of the debate climate here. I really don't understand how you could get upset in a discussion over the actual texts. Like all i see (in public discussions) is stuff like: "should we let 6 year olds wear full coverage Burkas in schools?" "Religious self segregation" "Honour killings, is it a real issue?" "Public loudspeaker Call to prayers, should it be allowed?" "What to do about this school that have been proven to employ religious extremists?" Though, that is mostly from following political figures, news articles and debates, so maybe i'm not getting the full picture, i don't know. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Anyway, the thing is that the majority culture to religion has been variations of "best kept to yourself" for a long time, so unless you go to church specifically for that it barely comes up, and when it does it's never in detail to a "getting riled up" level. I think it could be any of the three depending on the person.
Politics can have tons of venom, especially since doofus became president. Some people are really passionate about religion, but ultimately it comes down to two sides: people who are right and people who are religious. With sports some people take that shit way too seriously, and I say that as a sports fan. --- I have trouble concentrating because I have 80HD. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Sounds like you guys have some big time problems over there in Sweden. Good luck with all of that. What I find amusing, as an Eastern European (who lives in the U.S.), is that Norway doesnt have nearly as many of the problems that you guys have. Sounds like Norway has their shit together, while Sweden is vulnerable to a number of problems that other Europeans dont have to deal with. Of course, Norway has SOME of these issues, but not nearly as much as Sweden does. It looks to me like those two paragraphs were separate, he's probably not suggesting that at all. Yes, I was just trying to understand your environment. Not even trying to attack or insult, sorry if it maybe sounded like I was. Anyway, I am not religious but I live around a lot of Christians. Their belief is on a very personal level, so I am careful of what I say around them. They also take politics seriously and sports is below that, but Im not afraid of getting physically hurt if we debate those topics. Religion is a totally different thing and just laughing about it is dangerous.
