Yeah, Ive def played this dlc to much, mainly doing it for the reinforced spine perk. Damn does it give alot of xp tho, leveled up nearly twice just from the dialogue at the beginning. They'd be plenty bad on their own, but then VATS glitches when they get close and you can't hit them with guns or energy. And of course they'll get close because they're tanky, small, and fast. Melee with a fast weapon and the knockdown perk wrecks them, but you're only gonna have that on a melee build.
