Companies aren't keeping more of their money b/c they have to pay a little extra to min. wage staff. Rather than hire people or increase wages (as you said, stagnant), they're plowing unprecedented levels of cash into their own stocks, buying them back to artificially inflate their value, using near zero interest rates (courtesy of Trump's Federal Reserve) to keep pumping more money in.
